Books

Books that S.A.M. and I are reading....

"Christian Living in the Home" by Jay Adams

This book has been a valuable resource of what a Christ centered home should look like. One of the most important aspects of a Christian Home is communication. Mr. Adams' emphases is on Ephesians and how we are to walk with the Lord...putting off the old man and putting on the new. This transformation is to happen daily in our Christian walk. Christian relationships must unify and cause growth individually and corporately, so that the whole body grows into the fullness of Christ bringing glory, honor and Praise to His name. Ephesians 4:25 "Therefore, laying aside falsehood, speak truth each one of you with his neighbor, for we are members one of another." Communication is fundamental in the husband/wife relationship and parent/child relationship, as this is the means of establishing, growing and maintaining a Christ centered home. This is just one of the many perspectives of the Christian home that Mr. Adams discusses in this small, easy-to-read book!

"What He Must Be...if he wants to marry my daughter" by Voddie Baugham, Jr.
Where to begin to describe this book...it is so full of valuable information that it is hard to know where to start! First, I would say this is for Father, Mother, Son, and Daughter to read for pointing young men and young women in the direction of what they need to be in order to get married!! Voddie directs you in the qualities needed to be a Christian and then builds the foundations of what one must be (especially young men) in order to marry. It teaches young men how to be strong, godly, christian men and teaches parents how to train their sons in the way of the Lord. Voddie shows daughters and Fathers what standards to set in order for a man to qualify as a husband and how daughters are to remain pure. A must-read for every family!

*Disclaimer* Each family that reads this blog may have different views or values in reading material. We do not always agree 100% with each author that we read, however, we try to glean the riches of how to live out our Christian lives in our studies.

That second book sounds really good. I'm gonna have to find out if the library here has it. Kinda been lacking anything for non-school reading.
